Too excited to sleep . . . rewarded by simply awesome light! Arrived late into the evening to the Dead Sea, but was able to scout a few locations before the light completely disappeared.

Told myself - "self - no matter what, get up at 4am and head out!"   The difference from shooting in the SF Bay Area, is that even at 4:30, the temperature was 30C+ (86F) and not 7C (45F). It allowed me to really appreciate the moment, even when I wasn't shooting.

The Dead Sea is truly a magical place; at 1500' below sea level, the light is completely different than what I've experienced anywhere else on earth (but if you have - let me know in the comments section!)

This and a number of other landscape shots are available for free personal use - download at:

First Rain - California First Rain - California 2015First Rain - California 2015

First Rain - 2015 was very dry in California. Even though I live in an urban environment - I see the impact when I fly. Surprisingly at 37,000' or down low at a macro level the landscape looks very similar. I made this and other landscape shots available for a free download under Creative Commons license on

Shiny Surfaces Learning how to bring out the depth from a shiny object, I played around in the studio, below is the result.  The object - Buddha Hand - a citron fruit that is all rind (no juicy stuff in the middle)

First Days Of Spring Granted it's Utah, was surprised with an absolutely epic snowboarding conditions during the first days of Spring at Brighton Ski Resort.  I was also able to test out the new Clik Elite Adventure backpack.  This was shot with a 5D MK3 and 24" F1.4 II lens.
